Mr Darr earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Birmingham, followed by a Master’s degree in Medical Physics through the Institute of Engineering and Physics in Medicine (IPEM) at the University of Surrey. He completed his medical training at the University of Manchester in 2009 and joined the West Midlands Higher Surgical Training Programme in 2015, specialising in otolaryngology. After completing his registrar training, he undertook an Advanced Rhinology and Anterior Skull Base Fellowship at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham. In 2023, he successfully completed the European Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery Diploma from the University of Paris.
Appointed as a substantive consultant at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire in October 2022, Mr Darr’s practice covers a broad range of general paediatric and adult ENT conditions. He has a subspecialist interest in rhinology and anterior skull base surgery, managing complex acute and chronic pathologies in collaboration with a regional multidisciplinary team.
Mr Darr is committed to education and has contributed to the development of both undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. His commitment is reflected in numerous published book chapters as well as the completion of a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education (PGCME). He has held the role of honorary lecturer at the University of Birmingham and is on the faculty for phase 2 Warwick University medical students. He has also served on the faculty for various local and national courses and directs the cadaveric Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) and Facial Plastics/Septorhinoplasty courses at the West Midlands Surgical Training Centre (WMSTC). As a dedicated academic, Mr Darr has numerous peer-reviewed publications, with his work presented at national and international conferences and recognised with multiple prizes.
Outside work, Mr Darr is a devoted husband and proud father of two children. When he is not with his family, he is an avid supporter of Liverpool Football Club. In his free time, he enjoys playing badminton and has a passion for travelling. He values opportunities to explore new destinations and experience diverse cultures.
